Break the 5th Wall
About the event
The relentless cycle of training, cyphers and battles in a Breaker’s search for identity. Built from the lived experiences of Western Sydney breaking crew Flowtality, Break the 5th Wall follows how a Breaker is built. The stage moves through three phases: training on cardboard, where foundation is drilled and crews are formed through shared struggle; the cypher, where rivalries surface and names are earned in real time; and the battle, where pressure reaches its limit. A layered soundscape of local pioneers, community OGs and breakbeats drive the movement through a cycle drawn from Breaking and the five elements of Hip Hop. Choreographers & Performers Gerard ‘Kid Tek’ Cabellon, Alejandro Scarone & Lawrence ‘The Law’ Bernal. Dates: 16 Oct, 7:00pm - 7:45pm & 17 Oct, 7:00pm - 7:45pm. Location: East Sydney Community and Arts Centre (ESCAC). 34 Burton Street, Darlinghurst. This production is part of The Flying Nun by Brand X, Season 10 'Supply & Demand'.
