JIB Creative Music Orchestra by Anthony Braxton
About the event
“What we call jazz is a sonic continuum. It’s not just about celebration of the past; it’s about the hope of the future.” – Anthony BraxtonWith Anthony Braxton, a defining figure of contemporary avant garde music meets the next generation of jazz musicians. Over the course of a multi-day workshop, the visionary composer and multi-instrumentalist offers around 25 students of the Jazz Institute Berlin (JIB) insights into his artistic practice. The JIB Creative Music Orchestra formed during the workshop will work on a piece composed by Braxton specifically for this occasion and explore his improvisational language, known as “Language Music”. Braxton’s oeuvre is in constant flux, continuously expanded by new concepts and ideas. With its concert in the Georg Neumann Hall at the JIB, the JIB Creative Music Orchestra presents one of the highlights of this year’s Jazzfest Community Week.
