Course What is Judaism Really? 6,000 Years of Jewish and Universal Culture With Olivio Guedes

Unibes Cultural and Academia Judaica present a four-session course led by Olívio Guedes exploring six thousand years of Jewish history and its relationship to Western civilization. Drawing on interdisciplinary approaches and art historical materials, the program traces developments from ancient Mesopotamian societies to the contemporary world, connecting tradition, philosophy, art and history. Each session combines instruction with dialogue among participants, creating space to engage with the cultural and historical legacy of Judaism and its role in shaping Western thought. Olívio Guedes holds a postdoctoral degree in Art Criticism and History from USP, serves as cultural director of the Board of the University of Haifa in Brazil, and researches Jewish art history, culture and thought.
