Gardens: Curiosity and Creative Research
About the event
Join us in the museum’s garden as we welcome 13 creative practitioners to share their inspiring research projects, followed by an interactive workshop where you can explore your own ideas and reflect on how gardens can become spaces for research and experimentation. This event is sold out.
What to expect What happens when gardens become spaces for research, experimentation and creative discovery? And what can a garden teach us about how we make, design or create? Join us for an afternoon with 13 multidisciplinary designers and creative practitioners, hands-on exploration, and shared curiosity in the museum garden. Across two sessions, our guests will share their creative projects through short presentations, showing how their work began with research in gardens – from plants, materials, sounds, ecosystems and histories to the unexpected connections between them. Following the presentations, you can take part in a Garden Research Passport workshop: a playful and creative exercise inviting you to imagine how you might use a garden to explore your own interests. Through drawing, mapping and questioning, you’ll develop your own research idea while discovering that research doesn’t have to be complicated, academic or intimidating. It starts with looking closely, asking questions and following your curiosity. Guest speakers include: Alisa Ruzavina, Kalpana Arias, Rachy McEwan, Christie Swallow, Justina Alexandroff, Arran Gregory, Mehlaqa Khan, Jennifer Droguett, Sean T Ross, Becca Jeffree, Jaclyn Pappalardo, Marc Cowan and Vittor Camila. Please note that the garden has bark-chip paths and is not wheelchair-accessible. Sincere apologies for the inconvenience.
