Bittersweet Productions are Sydney's one-act play specialists. Their winter triple bill is equal parts hilarious, unsettling and sharply intelligent. Seagulls by Caryl Churchill leads the program. It is a meditation on the power and impermanence of creativity, via the life and career of a very ordinary woman – who just happens to have one extraordinary power. Time Flies by David Ives’s tender and delightful reflection on mortality hasn’t been seen in Sydney for over twenty years. Through encounters with love, discovery and existential uncertainty our protagonists encourage us to embrace life while time permits. There are jokes. Lots of jokes. David Attenborough makes an appearance! The Actor’s Nightmare by Christopher Durang rounds out the 90 minutes.
