About the event

Can workplace intimacy, mentorship, and organic romance survive in an era of legal anxiety and zero tolerance? Join us for a provocative, data-backed, and engaging edition of the Gender Talks Meetup as we examine one of the most fraught battlegrounds in modern culture: Workplace Gender Relations. 🌟 About This Event Over the last several decades—and with renewed intensity post-#MeToo—our society built a massive legal and HR architecture designed to protect women from harassment at work. That goal was righteous and overdue. However, in our attempt to eliminate bad actors, we’ve inadvertently altered the landscape of human connection: • Male managers are withdrawing: 60% of male managers report feeling uncomfortable mentoring, traveling with, or meeting one-on-one with female colleagues. • Workplace romance has plummeted: Once the primary place where adults met long-term partners, workplace relationships have hit historic lows while adult singlehood surges. • The office has become sterilized: Natural flirtation and social connection have been replaced by legal paranoia, fear of false accusations, and institutional suspicion. In this talk, facilitator Mojo Mustapha takes on the uncomfortable questions sitting right at the fault line of corporate gender politics. Are we protecting women at the cost of isolating them? How do we balance legal safety with authentic human connection? 🔍 Inside the Conversation • The Glass Ceiling vs. The Glass Cellar: Why modern gender discourse focuses obsessively on corporate boardrooms while remaining silent on the dangerous, dirty, blue-collar jobs (where men account for over 90% of workplace fatalities). • Chris Rock’s Law & Attractiveness Bias: The uncomfortable social science showing how physical attraction dictates whether workplace advances are perceived as "charming flirting" or "creepy harassment." • The "Pence Effect" & Mentorship Collapse: How expanding legal definitions of harassment have led to male withdrawal, ironically cutting women off from executive sponsorship. • From Solidarity to Social Clique: Analyzing how #MeToo evolved from a vital movement exposing serial abusers into a puritanical "Mean Girls" culture of moral policing (and why 100 prominent French women pushed back). • The "Ladies First" & Consent Culture Solution: How replacing corporate puritanism with sex-positive consent guidelines and female romantic initiation can dismantle predatory dynamics while restoring joy and romance to adult life. ⏰ Event Schedule • 6:00 PM – 6:30 PM: Arrival, & Participant Introductions • 6:45 PM – 7:30 PM: Feature Talk by Mojo Mustapha (with strategic question pauses) • 7:30 PM – 8:00 PM: Open Q&A, Informal Networking & Socializing ☯️ Our Yin-Yang Discussion Guidelines Gender Talks events are designed to be intellectually provocative without turning preachy, hostile, or ideological. We use a framework inspired by Taoist and Buddhist principles to keep the room grounded: 1. The Observer Mind: Notice your emotional triggers during controversial arguments. Observe them before reacting. 2. Loving Non-Attachment: Be willing to let go of needing to be "right." The goal is understanding, not winning a debate. 3. Compassion + Accountability: Accountability without compassion becomes cruelty; compassion without accountability becomes indulgence. 4. Generalizations with Awareness: Speak about broad patterns without turning them into rigid stereotypes. 5. Humor Helps: Serious subjects don't always require solemnity. 🎙️ About Your Facilitator Mojo Mustapha has spent over two decades exploring gender, culture, and social entrepreneurship. With a background in Women’s Studies and sociology, Mojo founded and directed the [Hedonisia Hawaii EcoFeminist Community](https://hedonisiahawaii.com/eco-feminist-community/) for 14 years, hosting over 3,000 international visitors and developing practical consent-culture frameworks. He is a writer, international traveler, and the founder of the *Yin-Yang…
