Romanticism at its Best - Bob Kauffmann & Remon Holsbergen
About the event
Baritone Bob Kauffmann and pianist Remon Holsbergen present 'Romanticism at its Best' at the Pianola Museum Amsterdam. You will hear masterpieces by Schumann and Liszt, including the complete Dichterliebe and the Sonnetto 104 del Petrarca. Romance on piano and voice
Baritone Bob Kauffmann and pianist Remon Holsbergen place Romanticism at the center of this concert at the Pianola Museum in Amsterdam. The program revolves around works by Robert Schumann and Franz Liszt, two composers who each pushed the boundaries of Romantic music in their own way.
Poet's love and Petrarch
Schumann wrote Dichterliebe in 1840: a cycle of 16 songs set to texts by Heinrich Heine. The song cycle is considered one of his most personal works. Liszt is represented with the Sonnetto 104 del Petrarca, a piano piece that combines virtuosity with deep expression. In addition, various other songs by Schumann will be performed.
Two musicians with a conservatory background
Remon Holsbergen studied at the Amsterdam Conservatory and obtained his Master's Degree in Freiburg. He performs internationally as a soloist and accompanist. Bob Kauffmann began his musical education at the age of 15 and combines his work as a singer with a background as a civil engineer. He took lessons from leading singers and teachers.
