Free International Workshop | Theatre and Community – Sentimental Archaeology of a Territory

Running 17–28 August 2026, Monday to Friday, 19h30–22h30, at Roosevelt Unit. This workshop develops participants' understanding of artistic and communal practice through performative exercises combining composition, movement, sound score, stage space organization, and costume/props design—each lasting approximately 9 minutes. Work draws from "Sentimental Archaeology of a Territory," defining "territory" as the community itself, encompassing its narratives, tensions, and daily lived experience. Led by Rui Germano, Portuguese theatre director, master's degree holder in theatre and community, founder of Associação Cultural Beleza Teatro, and long-standing partner of SP Escola Superior de Teatro. He facilitates and creates within international exchange programmes. His practice emphasizes collaborative methods and creative processes rooted in memory, personal experience, and the relationship between art and community, generating scenic encounters that foster cultural exchange across different territories. Open to theatre students and others engaged with the subject matter; 18 years and over; no other restrictions. Selection via curriculum review and letter of interest. 35 places available.
