Superintelligent AI and Loss of Control
About the event
A free, public workshop — no technical background needed. AI is everywhere — in our phones, our feeds, our workplaces — but most people don't really understand what it is, how it works, or why it matters. That's what this workshop is for. We'll cut through the hype and the fear to give you a clear, honest picture of what AI can actually do today, where its limits are, and how it's already affecting your daily life in ways you might not realize. Together, we'll explore questions like:
• Jobs: Is AI a tool that makes your work better — or a replacement waiting in the wings? • Trust: How do you spot AI-generated content, and what does that mean for the information you rely on? • Relationships: Why are millions of people already talking to AI companions — and what does that say about us? • Safety: What real risks does AI pose right now, from scams and deepfakes to privacy and bias?
What you'll walk away with:
• A clear, jargon-free understanding of how today's AI systems actually work • Live demos that make the technology tangible — not abstract • A framework for thinking critically about AI claims, products, and risks you'll encounter in real life
You don't need to be a tech person to care about this. You just need to be a person living in 2026.
