In-store Playtesting at Rain City Games
About the event
Welcome to our in-person playtest session at Rain City Games!
Here we enjoy playing tabletop prototypes, sharing feedback and helping designers develop their games in a supportive environment. We will back at the back of the store - please check in with Noe.
*Parking - Park in the mall’s underground lot, then head upstairs to scan the store's QR code for 3 free hours!
Bring a prototype if you have one. Or simply play prototypes brought by other members and give valuable feedback - this is a great way for new members to get a feel for the group and meet some friendly faces. Designers and playtesters of all experience levels are welcome!
IMPORTANT: • Please RSVP to reserve your spot (max 20 people). • Please DO NOT ATTEND if you feel unwell or have flu/Covid symptoms. • Please respect our excellent hosts\, Rain City Games\, including clearing up quickly so we are out by 9pm. If you have games on your wishlist\, please try to buy from Rain City Games to support out FLGS.
Format: Try to arrive promptly at 6pm. On the day we see what prototypes and playtesters are available and we organise everyone into playtesting groups that make most sense. The session is split into two halves of 90 mins (6:00-7:30pm and 7:30-9:00pm).

Tips for designers:
• When explaining rules to playtesters, start with a brief overview before diving into details • Have a purpose in mind for the session (e.g. 'I want to see if players find my core mechanic engaging') • Write notes on your observations, and record feedback
Tips for playtesters:
• Be honest and also tactful with feedback • Include positive comments and focus on helping the designer to improve the game THEY want to make • Note your thoughts/emotions during the game to help with feedback
