Waterlands, Elemental Dreams
About the event
Convened as an extension of Jumana Emil Abboud’s exhibition ‘The Storyteller and the Obedient Tide‘, this programme brings forward conversations on the mythological and poetic dimensions of water. Guided by Abboud’s practice and drawing on practices of performance, storytelling, and material research, this gathering brings together artists and practitioners to interrogate water through spiriting, exile and return as central themes. The symposium includes the opening of the Artist’s Garden 2026–2028, ‘Amphibious Timelapse‘, with a conversation with the Rice Brewing Sisters’ Club. Participating artists include: Sherko Abbas, Jumana Emil Abboud, Katya Garcia-Anton, Ahmad Nabil, the Rice Brewing Sisters’ Club and Raghad Saqfelheit. This programme is part of a weekend of symposia on water, alongside Water as Common Ground: Notes from a Majlis, taking place on Saturday, November 7, 2026.
