Exhibition presented by MIS in partnership with the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in São Paulo, marking five decades since the death of President Juscelino Kubitschek. The exhibition features previously unpublished photographs of the bossa-nova statesman, selected by MIS director-general André Sturm, including works by French photographer Jean Manzon, who documented JK's entire presidential career, alongside images from the museum's collection depicting different moments in his public life. The presentation is complemented by exclusive video material drawn from a 1980 feature documentary by filmmaker Silvio Tendler and a 1993 documentary by filmmaker Francisco César Filho. The exhibition also highlights JK's Czech heritage, as the grandson of grandparents born in the Bohemia region, now the Czech Republic, who emigrated to Brazil in the 19th century.

Klára Bachurková, a Czech language and culture instructor sent by the Czech Republic government through the Support Program for Czechs and the Czech Language Abroad, teaches at the University of São Paulo (USP) and the Czech-Brazilian Cultural Association. Viktor Dolista, a Czech diplomat based in São Paulo, was instrumental in establishing in 2013 a sister-city relationship between Diamantina, Juscelino Kubitschek's birthplace, and Třeboň, a town linked to his ancestors' origins in the present-day Czech Republic.

"Contemporary Brazil Through JK's Legacy – Political Work and Sociocultural Impact"
Celso Lafer, a jurist, professor, writer and diplomat, works in Law, International Relations and Brazilian foreign policy. Professor Emeritus at the University of São Paulo, he served as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, and as Brazil's ambassador to the UN (United Nations Organization) and the WTO (World Trade Organization). A member of the Brazilian Academy of Letters since 2006, his intellectual work emphasizes Brazilian political thought and the country's international standing, with particular focus on Juscelino Kubitschek's legacy in matters concerning national development, diplomacy and Brazil's modernization project.
