Saxophonist Rodrigo Amado pays tribute to great musical examples from the past and present with his band The Bridge. The group bridges diverse generations, different backgrounds, and styles, just as the name suggests. This is also a nod to Sonny Rollins' legendary 1962 album, The Bridge. The raw beauty of tenor heroes like Rollins can be heard reflected in Amado's playing.
Experience world-class improvisation
The group is anything but nostalgic. Every performance is an unpredictable experience, shaped by four masters of free improvisation. The Bridge's previous concert at Bimhuis produced the live album Further Beyond. Amado is a pivotal figure in the Portuguese jazz avant-garde. Pianist Alexander Von Schlippenbach has been a familiar face in the international improvisation world since the 1960s.
