Ever wonder if you could escape the Rat Race — at least on a board game? 😄
For this Dadventure, we’re getting together to play CASHFLOW, the financial strategy game based on the ideas behind *Rich Dad Poor Dad* by Robert Kiyosaki. The game was created by Robert Kiyosaki, together with Kim Kiyosaki, to make learning about money, investing, assets, liabilities, and passive income a lot more hands-on.
The objective is simple to explain, but not necessarily easy to pull off: build enough cash-flowing assets — real estate, businesses, stocks, and other investments — to get out of the Rat Race and reach financial freedom.
We’ll meet at Emerald Tavern Games & Cafe in North Austin, which is pretty much the perfect setting for this: board games, plenty of table space, and food and drinks available throughout the evening. They serve pub-style food, coffee, beer, cocktails, and more, so we can settle in and make a night of it.
Plan for roughly 2.5–4 hours of playing time. CASHFLOW can turn into a pretty involved game once everyone starts buying properties, making deals, taking risks, and trying to figure out how to get their passive income above their expenses.
No financial expertise is required. Part of the fun is figuring it out as we go, comparing strategies, making some terrible imaginary investments, and hopefully learning a few things that might actually translate into real life.
Come hungry, grab a drink, and see whether you can be the first one out of the Rat Race.
