Jewelry, Ornaments and Adornment in Dialogue

What if jewelry functioned as language? What stories would emerge about those who create, wear and observe it? Aligned with Heritage Journey 2026, this educational activity explores the social function of jewelry and adornment seen in portraits by Baby and Guilherme de Almeida, and in works by Russian-born artist Moussia, held in the institution's collection. The session invites reflection on the meaning of jewelry and ornaments in relation to an individual's social, financial and cultural capital. Participants will then create brooches, earrings, necklaces and accessories that connect with their own experiences and emotional histories, engaging in aesthetic appreciation and creative experimentation.
