With over 20 years experience as a full time musician, composing, performing, and teaching music, morphing between classical musician, celtic, and Folk story teller, Jennifer immerses herself in the world of emotive songwriting. With 3 solo albums, most recent being “Half of You” released in 2019, Jennifer now focuses on composing, performing, and touring with the duo ‘Jenny and James’ (two parts of the Jenny and the James trio) which incorporates, traditional folk and bluegrass together with Jennifer’s solo material. Jennifer has performed at the 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2022 versions of the Cape Town Folk & Acoustic Festival, held at the Baxter and Kirstenbosch respectively as well as other local, national, and international festivals. Selling out listening venues both as a solo artist and as a part of Jenny & the Jameses, a musical highlight was performing before Jonny Clegg on the Amsterdam leg of his final world tour. A singer, songwriter and guitarist from Cape Town, Jono Tait's musical journey began with classical and jazz studies, choir, piano and trombone before he discovered the guitar at fourteen. By sixteen, he was writing songs of his own — and he hasn’t really stopped since. Over the years, Jono has become something of a musical chameleon. He is best known as the singer, songwriter and guitarist of Cape Town folk-rock outfit Hatchetman, whose distinctive acoustic sound and three-part harmonies earned the band Silver Ovation recognition at the National Arts Festival. But his musical life has taken him far beyond one band. He has worked as a session guitarist, performed with original artists, played in tribute productions celebrating everyone from Tom Petty and Neil Young to AC/DC, and contributed as a composer and musical director (and occasional ham acting!) to theatre productions. Along the way, he has shared stages with an extraordinary collection of musicians and played everything from intimate acoustic rooms to some of South Africa’s biggest stages. At the heart of it all, though, is songwriting. Jono’s music draws from the great singer-songwriter tradition: The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Tom Petty, Neil Young, U2 and Crosby, Stills & Nash. Jono is also the custodian of The Alma Café, the beloved Cape Town live music venue founded by his parents, Richard and Retha Tait. After growing up around the café and its musicians, Jono took over its running in 2025, carrying forward the family’s extraordinary commitment to live music. Ironically, running a music venue has meant that Jono gets fewer opportunities to play his own music, so when he does step onto the stage as Jono Tait, it is something of a homecoming. Just a voice, a guitar, a pocket full of songs, and a lifetime of stories.
