Het NUT - Als vader vechten is

Theatre company Het NUT presents 'Als vader vechten is' at De Kleine Komedie in Amsterdam. Actors Ellen Goemans and Joep Hendrikx perform a modern myth about vulnerability, absence and the courage to remain soft. Fact and fiction merge. As a spectator, you are not an outsider, but are actively involved. A modern myth about the one left behind

Theatre company Het NUT translates the ancient myth of Telemachus to the present day. In Als vader vechten is, the focus is not on the hero, but on the one who stays behind. Writer and narrator Hendrik de Pecker is present on stage himself and bends the plot along with it. The play alternates between fairy tale and documentary, between fact and fiction.

Vulnerability as a strength

In this piece, Het NUT asks what it means to remain soft in a world that is becoming increasingly hard. Als vader vechten is is about the legacy of an absent father and its influence on who you become. Not a melancholic answer, but an honest and engaged investigation.
