Tai Chi Qigong Fusion Featuring the 42 form and Health Qigong
As the evening settles over North Vancouver, this Tuesday class offers students a calm and focused place to step out of the busy pace of the day and into the steady rhythm of Tai Chi. Practising at the end of the day can be especially meaningful. The body begins to soften, the breath has room to deepen, and the mind is invited to release its many lists, tasks, and concerns. In this supportive evening class, students will learn the 42 Form Tai Chi with patience, clarity, and encouragement.
The 42 Form is a beautiful and expressive modern Tai Chi routine that brings together movement qualities from several major Tai Chi traditions. Students will experience the soft, spacious flow often associated with Yang style, the spiralling and rooted energy of Chen style, the lighter stepping and agility found in Sun style, and the refined posture and internal awareness connected with Wu style. Because the 42 Form includes a greater variety of movements, turns, transitions, and changes in rhythm, it gives students a rich and rewarding way to deepen their Tai Chi learning.
This class is well-suited for new students, returning beginners, and continuing students who are ready for a slightly fuller Tai Chi experience. Although the 42 Form has more choreography than some introductory routines, it will be taught progressively, one step at a time, with attention to balance, posture, weight shifting, coordination, and relaxed whole-body movement. Qigong-inspired warm-ups and internal movement practices will also be included to help students settle the mind, open the joints, awaken the breath, and prepare the body for Tai Chi practice.
