Pianist Ivan Petrenko performs works by Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Shostakovich, and Mussorgsky at the Dufayhuis Amsterdam. The selection ranges from lyrical Romanticism to dramatic contrasts, concluding with Mussorgsky's colorful Pictures at an Exhibition. Pianist Ivan Petrenko at the Dufay House Amsterdam Ukrainian pianist Ivan Petrenko has been building an international career early on. He has won prizes at competitions in Poland, Switzerland, and Germany and has performed at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam and the Konzerthaus Berlin. As a soloist, he has collaborated with orchestras and musicians such as Anna Fedorova and Quirine Viersen. He is currently studying with Nino Gvetadze at Codarts Rotterdam. A program from lyric to drama The program brings together contrasting facets of the piano literature. Chopin's Fourth Ballade combines lyricism with dramatic tension. Rachmaninoff's Prelude reveals a restrained, inner character. In Shostakovich's Prelude and Fugue , clarity and musical complexity come together. Painting exhibition as a colorful finale The concert concludes with Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition : a series of 10 musical paintings, each with its own character, atmosphere, and color.
