Pipelines, Privacy & the Collector Fleet: Real-Time Data Done Right Meetup
About the event
Join us for an evening with two talks, one theme: data flowing at scale — and handling it responsibly. From architecting your OpenTelemetry Collector fleet across edge-to-gateway topologies, to protecting PII in real-time Kafka pipelines — practical patterns, live demos, and a few privacy war stories along the way. Food and drinks on us — stick around after for networking. ✍️ RSVP soon — capacity is limited!
📅 Date and Time Thursday, October 15, 2026 from 18:00-20:45

First Talk: Keeping data private in real-time pipelines by [Olena Kutsenko](https://www.linkedin.com/in/olenakutsenko/), Confluent *Real-time data — clicks, payments, messages — is full of personal information we're not supposed to leak. The challenge: how do we keep streaming data useful and safe at the same time?* *We'll explore practical privacy protection patterns in streaming systems using Kafka, Flink, and Iceberg — from masking and tokenizing PII, to why "anonymous" data often isn't, to techniques like k-anonymity and noise injection. With real-world deanonymization stories and live demos included.*
Second Talk: From Edge to Gateway: architecting your OpenTelemetry Collector deployment by [Marcin "Perk" Stożek](https://www.linkedin.com/in/perk-marcin-stozek/), Elastic *As OpenTelemetry adoption scales, the Collector becomes your observability backbone — but deploying it effectively means knowing what to run and where.* *We'll cover the full Collector fleet lifecycle: demystifying binaries (standard, EDOT, and custom OCB builds), mapping deployment topologies from edge agents to centralized gateways, and tackling fleet management at scale — from static configs to dynamic orchestration with OpAMP.* 19:45 – Pizza, drinks & networking
