A film built around an absence: William Friedkin’s Cruising (1980) allegedly lost forty minutes of footage, cut for being too explicit, and mythologised ever since. Mathews turns that gap into a tentative re-staging: a charged, self-aware drift between set and reality, desire and performance, asking what gets erased, and why.

Ein Film über eine Lücke: Aus William Friedkins Cruising (1980) wurden angeblich 40 Minuten zu expliziten Materials entfernt – ein bis heute legendäres, „verschollenes“ Stück Kino. Franco und Mathews machen daraus kein bloßes Rekonstruktionsprojekt, sondern eine tastende Nachinszenierung: ein Spiel mit Begehren, Blicken und Grenzen, irgendwo zwischen Set und Realität, Erinnerung und Projektion.
