Ride the Lakefront to Calumet Fisheries
About the event
There is a lot of free parking if you follow Lawrence Avenue under Lake Shore Drive to the lakefront as far as you can. The parking is free on Simonds Dr. between Foster & Lawrence. You should plan to arrive around 8:30 so we can roll at 9:00 pm.
We will follow the lake front path to the cultural center. Then, we will need to take streets to Calumet Fisheries. This is an iconic place visited by Anthony Bourdain in 2009. It is located next to the bridge where the Blues Brothers movie was filmed in 1979.
There is no indoor seating. We will eat our lunch picnic style before heading back to our starting point. The total ride distance is around 40 miles. [Follow this link for the menu.](https://www.calumetfisheries.com/menu.html)
We welcome a variety of riders and bike types, who can maintain a 12 MPH ride pace for the 40 miles, and we typically divide into 2-3 groups, so slower pace riders can be comfortable! However, speed will also be dependent on how busy the path is.
HELMET IS MANDATORY, as is a properly maintained bike. Moreover, we do not allow earbuds, earphones, or speakers on this ride.
Other things to bring: (1) photo ID, emergency contact info & insurance card, (2) spare tube & pump/CO2 (3) water bottle. Goes without saying but please dress for weather including sunglasses, sunscreen, bug spray, rain poncho. While this is a daylight ride, headlight and taillight are recommended to make you more visible.
