Joanne Robertson combines painting and making music, with improvisation and expressionistic freedom at the core. Her album Blurrr, released last year on the AD93 label, came into being in between painting and caring for her child. Blurrr is simultaneously grand and intimate, and filled with an intense loneliness. Alongside Robertson’s echoing vocals and her guitar, the album features precisely placed contributions from cellist Oliver Coates. Also discover her earlier solo albums, such as Painting Stupid Girls and Blue Car, which came into being in a similarly intuitive manner.

Pitchfork described Blurrr as a 'spectral and breathtaking record, full of immense loneliness, beauty, and free expression'.
