The Teachers CAN Exchange 2026: The Story of Investing in Teachers A free screening and conversation for everyone who believes in South Africa's teachers. Every year, the Teachers CAN Exchange brings together teachers, partners, funders and changemakers to connect, reflect and learn from one another. Most importantly, it's a space where teachers' voices are at the centre. This year, we're sharing a story that helped us better understand our role in education. For years, we were asked what change we were helping to create in the system. While we knew our work mattered, it was difficult to explain exactly where we fit. The answer came from teachers themselves. By watching teachers navigate challenges and create change in their own contexts, we learned what makes change possible. While clear roles, responsibilities, resources and support are important, teacher agency lies at the centre of it all: the ability for teachers to act, lead and shape the outcomes they want to see.
