One of the most influential and innovative figures in contemporary international dance, Boris Charmatz returns to the Romaeuropa Festival with his new work Muette. An intimate and radical experience that explores silence not as the absence of music, but as an emotional and physical space. In this minimalist solo: “We will listen to a dance that thunders silently,” the choreographer states, “ Muette will be guided by what does not even pass through my lips, by what does not come out.”
Envisioned as a continuation of his previous solo SOMNOLE, Muette is an invitation to follow the almost invisible movement of a cry that cannot fully erupt, of a body that resists and absorbs violence in silence, of a bubble of saliva bursting at the corner of the lips. Former director of Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch and creator of 10000 gestes, Charmatz continues to explore dance as an essential act and as a direct relationship with the audience.
