Dates: Mondays 5, 12, 19 & 26 October 2026 Time: 5:00pm-7:00pm Location: Royal Docks Centre for Sustainability, UEL Docklands Campus Level: Beginners welcome Part of the CDT Maker Club Ever wanted to start making, building or experimenting with technology but weren’t sure where to begin? Introduction to the World of Making is a four-week beginner programme designed to get you comfortable with the tools, ideas and practical skills behind making. Across the programme, you’ll explore different ways of turning an idea into something you can actually build, test and develop. START HERE. LEARN THE TOOLS. MAKE SOMETHING. You don’t need previous technical experience WHAT WE’LL EXPLORE An introduction to Maker Club and the world of making Understanding tools, materials and equipment Moving from an idea to a practical project Digital making and prototyping Basic electronics and technical skills Safe use of MakerSpace equipment Collaborative making and problem-solving Developing ideas towards projects and showcases OCTOBER DATES Monday 5 October Monday 12 October Monday 19 October Monday 26 October Time: 4:00pm-6:00pm The four-week introduction is designed as a starting point into the wider CDT Maker Club programme, where participants can continue developing projects and contribute to major events, showcases and Maker Club activity across the year. WHO IS IT FOR? Students, staff and members of the wider community are welcome. This programme is particularly suitable for beginners. You do not need to already know how to code, solder, design or build anything. FROM SKILLS TO PROJECTS The aim isn't just to teach individual techniques. As part of CDT Maker Club, participants will have opportunities to use these skills within wider projects, collaborative builds, demonstrations and major events and showcases throughout the year.
