Fritz Lang's "M" (NR) — German Expressionist Evenings
About the event
Join us to watch Fritz Lang's 1931 mystery thriller about a serial killer in Berlin and the efforts of both the police force and the crime world to apprehend the criminal. Lang's film used elements of German Expressionist style, but also embraced a new, gritty style, that went on to inspire the film noir genre. 111 minutes. For more information, please contact the branch at 305-535-4219 or capleyb@mdpls.org. Ages 18 yrs.+ German Expressionist cinema was born out of the angst and upheaval of rapid industrialization, political disorder, and economic collapse in the interwar years. Instead of depicting the physical world, the art focused on the psychological impact of the world around them – the anxiety, despair, and fractured experience of modern life. Join us each week to see one of the classics of this influential period in film history that still impacts films made today. Schedule: October 1: Nosferatu October 8: Metropolis October 15: The Golem: How He Came into the World October 22: Fritz Lang's " M "
