Inner West Speakers Toastmasters is part of Toastmasters International, a worldwide nonprofit organisation that helps people from all walks of life become more effective and confident speakers.
This meeting is perfect for you if:
• You get nervous speaking in front of groups (or even the thought of it!).
• You want to structure your thoughts more clearly and persuasively.
• You need to give better presentations at work.
• You want to practice thinking on your feet.
• You're looking to meet new, ambitious, and friendly people.
🤔 What to Expect at a Meeting:
Our meetings are fun, structured, and educational. Here’s a typical agenda:
1. Welcome & Introductions: A warm welcome from our Toastmaster of the Day.
2. Prepared Speeches: 2-3 members deliver speeches from the Toastmasters Pathways learning program. These are crafted, rehearsed, and focused on specific objectives.
3. Table Topics® Impromptu Speaking: This is the most exciting part! Volunteers (including guests, only if they want to!) get to practice thinking on their feet by answering a random question in 1-2 minutes. It's a blast and great practice!
4. Constructive Evaluation: Every speaker receives thoughtful, positive feedback from an assigned evaluator. This is where the real learning happens!
5. Awards & Closing: We recognise the best speakers and evaluators and wrap up the meeting.
As our guest, you can:
• Just watch and learn. There is zero pressure to participate.
• Introduce yourself if you feel comfortable.
• Optionally participate in Table Topics® if you're feeling brave!
