Older Adults and the Museum: Educational Possibilities

13th edition of Older Adults and the Museum: Educational Possibilities – 2026 STRUCTURE: In-person training course, 44 hours total across 11 weekly sessions held on Wednesdays from 14h to 18h. TARGET AUDIENCE: Professionals working in education, health and social services with groups of people aged 60 and over. AIM: Strengthen educational practice in museums with older adult audiences by exploring the socioeducational potential of art, culture and heritage content. DATES: August: 19, 26; September: 02, 09, 16, 23, 30; October: 07, 14, 21, 28. VENUE: Auditório Pinacoteca Luz. PLACES: 25 SELECTION PROCESS: Pre-registration runs 06 July to 07 August 2026. Candidates are selected by profile and registration order, with priority given to professionals from organizations not previously represented in the course. Accepted participants will be notified from 10 August onwards; final registration takes place in person at Pinacoteca Luz. COURSE CONTENT: Aging processes, old age and memory; heritage and memory; definitions of art; image literacy as educational resource; multisensory engagement with artworks; art museum education; educational activities with older adults at Pinacoteca; accessibility and inclusive practice in museums; projects with older audiences at other institutions; designing educational pathways using Pinacoteca's collection.
