Caution: This is an advanced and strenuous hike. We try to keep a quick pace to make this a challenging workout. Known as "Nature's Stairmaster", this strenuous hike is not recommended for beginners. There are 2763 steps with 1800 feet of elevation change - in each direction!
You're welcome to join us at 6:00am, at 6:45am, or for both hikes depending on your fitness level. Afterwards, you're more than welcome to join us at Rudy's on 620 for breakfast tacos. We usually have 10-15 people show up for this hike. Hope to see you there!
6:00am - 2 miles (40 minutes) This is the hardest part of the trail which makes it great for conditioning. We will be starting at the Canyon Trail trailhead, hiking to Noggin' Knocker, and back.
6:45am - 5.5 miles (2hrs)
We will be starting at the Canyon Trail trailhead, hiking to the Fern Trail Trailhead, taking a 5-10 minute break, and then hiking back to where we started.
IMPORTANT NOTE: On weekends, they charge a $10 fee per hiker (and $10 per dog) starting around 6:15am to hike this trail. If you're showing up for the 6:45am hike, be prepared to pay the fee. The HOA is strictly enforcing this rule now. We've gotten away without having to pay for a long time, but now we need to pay up if we want to keep being able to hike the trail.
What to bring with you: Lots of water (preferably with electrolytes) and a good pair of hiking or trail running shoes. If it's wet, or you're new to this trail, trekking poles can be a big help.
How to find us: We will be standing near the trailhead kiosk at the Canyon Trail trailhead entrance.
NOTE: There are no restrooms or water at this trailhead. (There are bathrooms nearby at HEB or at 8820 Big View Dr, Austin, TX 78730)

3. Non-Professional Guidance: The event hosts, organizers, and facilitators are not professional guides or trained personnel. They do not assume any responsibility or liability for your safety, health, or conduct during the event.
4. Release of Liability: By participating in this event, you hereby release and discharge the event hosts, organizers, and any affiliated individuals or entities from any and all liability, claims, demands, or causes of action arising out of or related to any loss, damage, or injury, including death, that may be sustained by you or your guests during or as a result of participating in this event.
This event is a voluntary gathering of individuals with shared interests engaging in recreational activities. By RSVPing, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by the terms of this waiver.
