Candidates of Death (2026) written and directed by Maciej Cuske (Polish: Kandydaci śmierci). Seventeen years ago, a father took his son and two of his friends on a summer holiday. To pull the boys away from their computers, he suggested making an amateur horror film together. They returned to the idea the following summer. And the next. And the next. Year after year, the boys and Maciej travel across Poland, inventing increasingly elaborate scenes for their homemade horror saga. And something much more real is happening in front of the camera. The boys grow up, dreams are tested, and the father himself changes with them. Blending documentary and a film-within-a-film story, Candidates of Death is a humorous and tender chronicle of friendship, filmmaking and the passage of time. Poland, 2026 | 96 min.
