Three short plays by René de Obaldia, Arthur Azevedo and Roberto Massoni unite under the Theatre of the Absurd. O Defunto, Uma Consulta and Um Banheiro para Senhora Ana Vaedra explore isolation, failed communication, desolation and contemporary hope through the grotesque and sublime.
Directed by Niveo Diegues. Cast and production by Grupo TECE.
Two women recall Victor, the deceased husband of one, in the opening piece. Uma Consulta presents a hilarious comedy of errors set in a renowned physician's office. The final work, Um Banheiro para Senhora Ana Vaedra, employs sarcastic humour and social critique to examine consumerism and human disconnection.
The performance invites reflection on existence and its unfolding through the absurd, surreal and tragicomic—revealing how strangeness and disquiet can provoke both laughter and unease.
