The Harbingers: paintings by Pink Milk Drink
About the event
Lustre Contemporary presents The Harbingers, a solo exhibition of new paintings by Pink Milk Drink. Blending art history, mythology, and the absurdities of contemporary life, the exhibition humorously reflects on the stories we create to make sense of the unknown.
Artist’s Statement
The Harbingers emerges from a blundering convergence of art history, mythology, and contemporary life. The paintings humorously reflect on the stories we create to make sense of the unknown.
Set in a whimsical world rife with hubris and overconsumption, entities spiced with undertones of apathy, joy, societal confusion, and apocalyptic dread wander through flooding and droughting landscapes.
The beings in these narratives seek transfiguration into a more enlightened state; however, their behavior remains decidedly human.
In the world of The Harbingers, pink does not lead us to a place of joy and sweet innocence. A warning is faintly heard through the din.
