Caros Amigos and the Austin Choro Club

Introducing a new, Brazilian musical and culture experience to Austin! Starting July 18, 2026, Austin's only choro band, Caros Amigos, will be presenting a concert followed by an open, community jam session of Brazilian choro music. Formed in 2021, Caros Amigos ("Dear Friends"), brings a refreshingly unique musical style to Austin's famous music scene. Caros Amigos specializes in the lively, toe-tapping traditional music of Brazilian choro. A "cousin" of samba - choro is mainly an instrumental music featuring upbeat rhythms, lilting melodies, and virtuosic musicianship. Caros Amigos' song list consists of standards by Brazilian masters as well as originals by the group and their "caros amigos." Following Caros Amigos’ first set will be a choro "jam" or "roda de choro" with the newly founded Austin Choro Club, a community of musicians of all levels and ages who love performing Brazilian music. This choro "jam" is open to the community - and more information is available on the Caros Amigos website.
