Dear fellow nerds On Wednesday we are planning to meet up for geek talk and drinks. Everyone is welcome. Do you like to talk about how things work? What is artificial intelligence, and where is it headed? Are we alone in the universe, or are there other forms of life out there (Fermi paradox)? What is the state of the art in quantum computing? Are we living in a simulation (simulation hypothesis)? How did life on Earth begin? How is life defined? What are the existential threats that humanity faces, and how can they be tackled? (climate change, biological/chemical/nuclear/autonomous weapons, etc) How can consciousness be defined? How does bitcoin work? This event is intended to bring together people who are interested in discussing these sorts of topics over drinks. No experience needed, just a little curiosity, and a willingness to think things through scientifically. We want to approach these questions with humility. It’s not a competition to speak over top of people, or flaunt what you know. Everyone is welcome, especially women and people from demographics who are generally left out of conversations like these. If you have ideas for discussion topics, please feel free to write them in the comments for this event. The plan is to make the Prenzlauer Berg edition a weekly event, since studies show, that proximity and repetition are crucial for forming connections. So I might try different weekdays, locations or setups. Stay tuned.
