In this underrated and often overlooked study in smooth surfaces and concealed rot, a respectable hatter in a Norman town harbours a secret he has kept for decades. However, his neighbour, the local tailor, might have guessed what he is up to. This adaptation of Georges Simenon’s novel stars French screen legends Serrault and Aznavour as the two men in a game of cat and mouse. It also features an appearance by a young François Cluzet. Please note, this film will be presented in a very rare 35mm print which has some colour fading. We apologise for any disappointment and hope you can still enjoy this rare 35mm presentation. Screen: NFT1 General Admission. Screening details: English language subtitles; 35mm.
