NEW EVENT - π»π The Ghosts of Cabbagetown
About the event
π»π The Ghosts of Cabbagetown A 90-Minute Evening Ghost Walk Through One of Torontoβs Most Historic Neighbourhoods Cabbagetown has beautiful Victorian houses, quiet streets, old cemeteries, and a history that goes back generations. It also has ghosts. Join me for a 90-minute evening walking tour through Cabbagetown, where we'll explore some of the neighbourhood's strangest stories, unsettling legends, and darker pieces of Toronto's past. We'll begin beneath the glass of Allan Gardens, then make our way through the streets of Cabbagetown, stopping along the way for stories of mysterious creatures, haunted buildings, old prisons, cemeteries, restless spirits, and the people who may never have quite left. This isn't a traditional history walk. It's a ghost tour β so expect some history, some local legends, a little mystery, and a few stories that are difficult to explain. And, of course, we'll have a few laughs along the way. π± Don't forget to join our WhatsApp Group β [CLICK HERE](https://chat.whatsapp.com/H59mSCbsAi018gYANrKAnc) * π» What We'll Explore Our route will take us through some of Cabbagetown's most atmospheric locations, including: πΏ Allan Gardens β ghosts beneath the glass πΎ Winchester Square Park β the strange story of Cabbagetown's Tunnel Monster πΈ The Winchester Hotel β spirits that may have never checked out ποΈ Winchester Street β haunted houses and Victorian secrets βοΈ The Don Jail & Bridgepoint β where the walls remember everything π Riverdale Farm β and its strange connection to the old Don Jail β°οΈ The Toronto Necropolis β a city of the dead beneath a city of the living π―οΈ St. James Town & St. James' Cemetery β where the living and the dead share the same neighbourhood And much, much more... * π What Makes This Tour Different? This is a new ghost walk for the group, created specifically around Cabbagetown. Rather than simply walking from one location to another, the route has been curated around the stories so that each stop connects to the next. We'll move through the neighbourhood at a comfortable pace, stopping along the way while I share the stories behind the places we're visiting. Some stories are historical. Some are local legends. Some are downright strange. You'll have to decide for yourself which ones you believe. π» * π―οΈ A Little About the Tour This is a 90-minute evening walk. We will be walking outdoors throughout the tour and will not be entering buildings. Some locations may be viewed from outside or from nearby public spaces. Please be respectful of residents, private property, and cemetery grounds as we make our way through the neighbourhood. * π Meetup Details π Meeting Time: 6:30 PM I will only wait 5 minutes before we begin. π« Meeting Location: Outside the Palm House at Allan Gardens (this BIG WHITE building) Look for me in my Moose Hat! π End Point: Parliament Street & Wellesley Street East πΆ Walking Time: Approximately 90 minutes π» Pace: Comfortable, steady walking pace * ποΈ Meetup Fee $10 cash or e-transfer π§ [mathewmaclean@hotmail.com](mailto:mathewmaclean@hotmail.com) The $10 fee helps support the group and covers the extra research, preparation, and curation that goes into creating these ghost walks. These aren't simply walks where we meet up and wander around. I've put together a specific route, researched the stories, and created a series of stops designed to turn the walk into an actual storytelling experience. You're paying for the experience β not just the walking. * π What to Bring π Comfortable walking shoes π§₯ Weather-appropriate clothing π§ Water π¦ A little extra light if you have it π» An open mind And maybe don't wander off by yourself.
