If you love timeless New York atmosphere—complete with vintage Art Deco lighting and original tin ceilings—you are going to love this spot.Even better, they have recently expanded their space with comfortable group booths and added a full upscale craft cocktail bar program. Come unwind after a long week, grab a craft martini or a retro chocolate egg cream, and dive into amazing comfort classics like their legendary chicken pot pie, burgers, or towering homemade pies. Whether you are a regular face at our table or joining the group for the very first time, we cannot wait to share a meal and plenty of laughs with you!
Old John’s Luncheonette (now officially operating as Old John’s Diner) is a beloved neighborhood institution on the Upper West Side that recently celebrated its 75th anniversary in business. Located at 148 W 67th St, it serves as a community anchor often described as the "Cheers" of Lincoln Square. The restaurant blends nostalgic, mid-century diner aesthetics—like original Art Deco lighting, a narrow horseshoe counter layout, and an engraved tin ceiling—with high-quality, scratch-made comfort food that sets it apart from typical New York short-order joints!!!
Unlike standard diners, Old John's makes its menu items completely from scratch, including baking its own signature cakes and pies daily.Diner Classics: Locals rave about their classic Tuna Melt, Chicken Pot Pie, thick Angus beef burgers, and Challah French Toast.Homemade Desserts: Their towering Lemon Meringue Pie and homemade carrot cake are legendary. The Drink Program: Alongside retro Chocolate Egg Creams, the updated bar boasts a dedicated martini and craft cocktail menu, featuring favorites like the 1951 Sazerac and Amsterdam Ave Whiskey Sour.
I’ll reserve a fun booth for us or a table.
