Seymour Canyon and Lynn Canyon Loop: Intermediate
About the event
This is a nice introduction to mountain hiking and also a great place to come for a quick trail run. The first part of the loop follows the Baden-Powell Trail, which consists mostly of boardwalk sections alongside Lynn Headwaters. There is easy access to the 30-Foot Pool before a staircase ascent. The route eventually transitions onto the Homestead Trail, which includes a gravel ramp descent before connecting with the Fisherman’s Trail.
Overall, this is a relatively beginner-friendly hike (tending toward the easier side of Intermediate difficulty) that is mostly flat, with a few short, steep sections. The path is very well defined, so while an offline map is useful for navigating the correct turns—especially because cellular reception can be limited—there is little risk of unintentionally wandering off the trail. There are also several small trail maps posted along the route.
The trail is normally fairly busy and is shared by hikers and cyclists, but users are generally respectful of one another’s space. Parking and the trailhead are located at the Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve Main Parking Lot.
