Family Sundays at the Jameel: Games. Paths. Stories
About the event
All welcome, pre-registration required Join us for Family Sundays at the Jameel: Games, Paths and Stories, inspired by our current exhibition Global Positioning System. Explore ideas of movement and mapping through a series of self-led art stations designed for playful discovery. Trace everyday journeys, build bridges and pathways, experiment with circles and motion and explore how shapes create boundaries, and watch how colours naturally flow in different directions. This Family Sunday carries a special element of movement—encouraging children to jump, crawl and explore Jameel Arts Centre. The activities are free to attend and run all day to encourage and support creativity and imagination. Jameel Arts Centre strives to provide space for children to share stories and to foster cultural awareness through artistic exploration that supports healthy child-development and growth. Family Sundays is suitable for all ages. All materials and step by step guides are provided. Activities Sensory Box Toddlers search through sensory sand trays and uncover hidden clues that lead them on a playful scavenger hunt. Following each prompt, they explore a series of sensory bins to find different vehicles, animals and objects while developing observation and problem-solving skills. Build a Bridge Children design and construct miniature bridges, staircases and pathways using simple building materials. As they experiment with structure and balance, they imagine new routes that bring people and places together. Orbits Children experiment with tracing, stamping, spinning and drawing to discover how movement creates different circular forms, revealing that a single shape can emerge through many different actions. Spilling Borders What happens when colours stay within the lines or move beyond them? Using simple tools and chance, participants explore ideas of boundaries, containment and movement as colours spread, overlap and escape their imagined borders. Connecting Cities Working together on a large collaborative map, children build an interconnected landscape by adding roads, rivers, bridges, neighbourhoods, vehicles and landmarks. As the city grows, they consider how movement, infrastructure and shared spaces connect communities. Joining Family Sundays at the Jameel is Maison Tini’s Tini-preneurs Market. The market invites children to step into the role of entrepreneur, transforming their creativity into real-world experience. As part of Art Jameel’s Family Sundays programme, young makers aged 5–17 showcase and sell products they have designed, made or developed themselves, from handmade crafts and artwork to baked goods, jewellery, games and innovative creations. Tini-preneurs is an immersive learning experience that encourages confidence, creativity, communication and financial literacy. By interacting with customers, handling sales and sharing the stories behind their products, children gain valuable entrepreneurial and life skills in a supportive, family-friendly environment. Come and meet the next generation of creators, innovators and business owners, support their ideas, and discover something truly one of a kind. SEE ALL EVENTS
