What Does Spirituality Mean To You? A Discussion Group
About the event
What does spirituality actually mean to you? We all come to spirituality differently. Some through religion. Some through meditation or study. Some through loss, love, addiction, awakening, nature, or experiences we still don’t totally know how to explain.
Join The Wheel NYC for an open and curious group conversation about spirituality, meaning, and the experiences that shape what we believe. Facilitated by Ron Rubin, our conversation will be guided by questions like: • What does spirituality mean to you? • What have been some of your greatest teachers on the spiritual path: people, books, experiences, challenges, or something else? • Do you believe there is a deeper purpose or meaning to human life? What could it be? • Have your spiritual views changed over the course of your life? If so, how? • And many more... This is an open sharing group, so bring your experiences, beliefs, questions, doubts, and curiosity. You’re also welcome to simply listen.
About Ron Ron was born and raised in Brooklyn and graduated from Brooklyn College in 1969 with a degree in what he jokingly calls “Impractical Philosophy.” After college, he hitchhiked west and settled in the Bay Area, searching for answers and sampling what the hippie generation had to offer. Eventually, Ron returned to the East Coast, found his soulmate, and discovered the School of Practical Philosophy. There he was introduced to the teachings of H.H. Shantananda Saraswati, nonduality, and the Way of the Householder, teachings that would shape the course of his life. Over the years, Ron came to appreciate that much of what he had been searching for was already here, in the ordinary present moment. He continues to explore the wisdom found across the world’s spiritual traditions and, in his words, is still “ironing out the details.”
Come share what spirituality means to you and hear how other people have made sense of the mystery of being human. Maybe none of us have it completely figured out. That’s kind of the point.
Please bring a snack for fellowship after the discussion group!
