The Songmakers' Guild Protégé Programme Showcase
About the event
STELLENBOSCH Six voice-and-piano Art Song duos participated in this year’s Songmkers’ Guild Protégé programme. In the last year, each duo received coaching by committee members and 4 masterclasses presented by specialists in various fields. These masterclasses included a workshop on embodiment by choreographer Jackï Job, insights on Shakespearean texts by actor Marcel Meyer, a presentation on French poetry by Prof. Catherine du Toit and most recently a shared workshop by vical coach Susie Gibbons and piano technician Ian Burgess-Simpson, providing deep insigts on the voice and the piano as instruments. This concert will combine Cabaret songs, songs on Shakespearean texts, French mélodie and Schubert lieder to showcase the culmination of a year-long journey of intensive mentorship, specialist masterclasses, and dedicated artistic growth for our six extraordinary Art Song duos.
