Socratic Walk: Petřínské Sady
About the event
Though our dear friend Benny from Via Stoica has departed, he’s left us with the idea of philosophizing and sharing wisdom in motion! Join us as we keep the tradition alive.
We will meet at Pítko Hellichova at 19:00 where we will introduce the question for the evening then explore it together as we walk up through the beautiful hills and orchards of Petřín before coming to an end in the courtyard of Prague castle.
We'll structure our conversations using the Socratic Rules of Engagement — norms for real philosophical inquiry:
• No view is off-limits • Arguments are met with arguments — not deflection, not silence • Challenge is offered and received as friendship, not attack • Candor isn't punished; easy consensus is treated with suspicion • Humility over certainty — no speeches, no debate tactics
The question for this walk is: What does it mean to be a good citizen and is it worth attempting to be one? We won't resolve the issue in one evening — but we'll use it as a starting point for genuine inquiry.
Regardless of your background, expect a welcoming, low-pressure atmosphere open to anyone curious about the topic.
Space is limited to keep conversations intimate — reserve your spot below.
