Typewriter Poetry: Overcoming writers block through improvisation. This workshop will be an introduction to typewriter poetry as a concept. We will have a variety of typewriters available for the participants to use but they are welcome to bring their own. First we will discuss the importance of poetry and improvisation in an increasingly automated world, and how we can influence our world and our city with the power of words. We will break off into pairs and practice prompting each other with topics and writing each other poems. After a couple rounds we will discuss skills and techniques for moving past writer's block, self-doubt and criticism. We will break off into different pairs and repeat the cycle. The culmination of this workshop will be an event held at the 'Flower Hill Center' on oct. 8th where the participants of the work shop can enjoy an afternoon of live music and share in 'open mic style' some of the poems, techniques and experiences of the workshop.
