We present a new perspective on the permanent painting collection of Museu Can Framis of the Fundació Vila Casas. A reading conceived as a declaration of intent, the starting point of a new phase that opens up a process of listening, reading and rereading the legacy of Antoni Vila Casas. For the first time, we propose an exhibition narrative that seeks dialogue between the formal and conceptual aspects of the collection, in search of the invisible threads established between the different works on display and that define the main lines of work of our museums. In line with Antoni Vila Casas’s desire to move away from academic and conventional approaches, Una col·lecció permanentment canviant proposes a journey through the main formal and conceptual motivations that have stimulated Catalan artistic creation in recent decades, from an independent perspective on styles, trends and prejudices. Artists from different generations and tendencies enter into dialogue, united by a narrative that is both their own and shared. Each from the perspective of their own time, yet connected at the root. An opportunity to understand, through this selection of works, a specific period in the history of Catalan art and of the society in which it emerged. For Antoni Vila Casas, art was a way of living and of seeing the world. The museum was a place to learn, to understand and to grow, but also a playful space of affection and commitment. With this aim, this new permanent exhibition seeks to generate a narrative that allows a deeper reading and understanding of Catalan painting, as well as of our society, the world we live in and the time we have been given to live. At the same time, we inaugurate a permanent space in homage to the figure of Antoni Vila Casas, which traces, from a human and humanist perspective, the different facets of his personal and professional trajectory.
