So, What's Up With Gen Z?

Practical, evidence-based strategies to engage young people and communicate in ways that actually land. If you work with young people, you’ve likely felt it - the moments where what you’re saying should work… but doesn’t. They switch off, push back or maybe even remain silent - and as the youth professional or educator in the room, you're wondering what's not quite landing. This one-day professional learning experience is designed to change that. So, What's Up With Gen Z? brings together two essential elements of effective youth engagement: understanding what drives young people’s behaviour, and learning how to communicate in ways that genuinely connect. You’ll build a deeper understanding of Gen Alpha and Gen Z - their values, motivations, and what sits beneath disengagement - while developing practical communication skills to engage both individuals and groups with clarity and confidence. Throughout the day, you’ll move beyond theory into practice. You’ll explore what drives engagement, practise relational communication strategies, and strengthen how you structure messages, use storytelling, and show up with presence when speaking to young people. What You'll Learn: How to communicate in ways that genuinely resonate with Gen Alpha and Gen Z What sits beneath disengagement - and how to respond effectively Practical strategies to build trust, safety, and participation How to structure your message so it actually lands How to use storytelling and delivery to increase engagement in group settings Simple shifts in language, tone, and approach that reduce resistance This workshop is designed for professionals who: Work with young people in classrooms, programs, or community settings Are finding it harder than expected to engage or connect Want practical tools they can use immediately Value evidence-based, relational approaches to communication
