Children's Workshop: Mapping Impressions with Rashid Almehiri

Join us for a creative mapping workshop using various textures hosted by artist Rashid Almehiri. Inspired by the Global Positioning System exhibition, participants explore how we experience and remember spaces through observation, imagination and making. Beginning with a guided tour of the exhibition, participants receive a floor plan of the galleries and are invited to create their own “impression map” of the space. Sketching moments, objects, sounds, feelings or discoveries that stood out to them, from artworks they connected with, to unexpected details, movements, or memories created during their visit. Following this exploration, children learn about the process and approach to transforming materials into meaningful expressions. Translating their own impression maps from paper into felt, experimenting with colour, texture and shape to create a tactile representation of their experience. Through this hands-on activity, children explore ways of observing and interpreting spaces, while developing their skills in visual mapping, material experimentation and creative storytelling. This workshop is free to attend and is suitable for children aged 6-13. Early registration is advised as spaces are limited. No prior art experience is required. All materials and equipment are provided. About Rashid Almheiri Rashid Almheiri is an artist who is continuously gravitating towards creating poetic and meaningful experiences. SEE ALL EVENTS
