Patriarchy is the musical manifestation of mastermind multidisciplinarian Actually Huizenga, currently operating as a dynamic duo with close collaborator known simply as T he Drummer. The band warps industrial, electro, dark wave, and alt-metal into a sound Actually has dubbed “snuff pop.” Across three albums and their most recent Appendices EP, the band has consistently invoked raw guitars, powerful electronics, warped pop and dark club energies, with lyrical themes ranging from sex and power to death and fantasy.
Infamous for their unpredictable and chaotic live shows, Huizenga commands the stage like a woman possessed, prowling and confrontational; while hypnotic rhythms are hammered out with machine-like stamina by The Drummer. Together, they create a sound and fury that outweighs what seems possible for a duo: half crushing heavy-rock show, half sexy dark dance party; with sweat, blood, humor and theatrical chaos throughout.
FFO: Crystal Castles, Peaches, Model/Actriz, Pixel Grip, Goldfrapp, Nine Inch Nails.
