Hidden legacies: The women behind our collection
About the event
November is Legacy Awareness Month at the National Gallery, a time to celebrate the lasting impact that gifts in Wills have on our collection and programmes. Join Susanna Avery-Quash, Senior Research Lead, and Meredith Loper, Legacy Manager, for a conversation exploring the remarkable contribution women have made to the National Gallery through these generous acts. Drawing on Susanna's research into 200 years of women benefactors, this event sheds light on the gifts and legacies that have helped shape the collection since the Gallery's foundation. Discover the stories behind much-loved paintings acquired through gifts in Wills, hear about the lasting impact of women whose generosity continues to influence the Gallery today and learn what the Gallery is doing to recover and share the stories of the women behind its collection. Access: For House and Exhibition Members.
