J-Pop Jams: October 2026

*What is it?* *Bring your instrument and/or your voice and meet up with some like-minded J-Pop fans to jam! (Or, come along and listen to others do it!)*

*What songs?* *Anything J-Pop! Some of our all-time favourites are Himawari no Yakusoku (from Doraemon), Wherever you are (One OK Rock), Matsuri (Fuji Kaze) and Ai wo Komete Hanabata wo (Superfly).*

*The vibe?* *Acoustic / soft electric. Acoustic guitars, cajon/bongos/congas etc, electric piano and (soft) electric bass all OK, but not shredding on electric guitar or pounding drums.*

*I’ve never performed on stage before, should I be nervous?* *No, you shouldn’t! Many of our members will be there and are just about the most supportive and friendly people you’ll ever meet.*

*Why do I need to register?* *It helps us out a lot, because:*

• *It’s much easier for us to plan the schedule for the 2 hours, we are expecting a lot of people wanting to perform!* • *If you need accompaniment (e.g. you’re a vocalist and need a backing band), we may not know the song you want to play, so it’ll mean we’ll a) need time to learn it, or b) can work with you on a different song.*

*I don’t want to perform, I just want to come by and listen, is that fine?* *Absolutely!*

*IMPORTANT NOTES (please read):*

1. *We can't guarantee we can get everyone on stage every meetup, but we'll do our best! Attendees that miss out on performing this time will be prioritised for the following month's performance.* 2. *We’ll be snapping photos and taking some videos at this event to share on our socials and in future promos. By coming along, you’re cool with possibly appearing in them. If you’d rather not, just have a quick word with our team on the day!* 3. Due to our upcoming show in November, our house band do not currently have the capacity to learn many new songs. That said, we are now introducing the [J-Pop Jams Songbook](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1o0H-WhR_NblIeEQq7CDoQdPBGAelp4DR/view?usp=sharing)! This list contains a list of all J-Pop songs that some of our band members know or have played previously.

*Who are you?* *J-Pop Jams is brought to you by Sydney J-Pop Nights, a not-for-profit dedicated to promoting local musicianship and J-Pop/Japanese subculture in Sydney.*
